  • George King, Director / Film Maker -Thumbs Up for Mother Universe: Stories from the Life of Lonnie Holley

Kenneth Lovell just completed the audio sweetening and mix for our feature documentary Thumbs Up for Mother Universe: Stories from the Life of Lonnie Holley. I had never worked with Kenneth before, and I am delighted at what he was able to create. He was working with audio files recorded over a 25-year period on numerous different formats and did a great job making seamless transitions throughout the film. But perhaps Kenneth’s greatest strength is his remarkably positive attitude to the work. I am slow and demanding. He was patient and responsive—prepared to go over the same material multiple times until we found what we wanted. He also contributed some excellent original musical compositions to the project!

  • Peter Miller's Award-Winning documentaries include the critically acclaimed : A.K.A. Doc Pomus; Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story ; A Classapart, for PBS American Experience (Imagen Award Winner for Best TV Documentary) and many others

I’ve been working with Kenneth for many years and I’m always blown away by his talent, instincts and his willingness to do whatever it takes to get it right. Working with Kenneth is a delight -- he combines great artistry with a powerful collaborative spirit. I look forward to the opportunity to team up with him again on many future productions.

  • Amy Linton has edited numerous award-winning films including Julie Dash's Landmark Daughters of the Dust, a Sundance Winner which had the honor of being selected for the Library of Congress' National Film Registry in 2004.

Kenneth's deep musical knowledge and talent came in handy as he also worked with the composer to mix and refine the original score. Our film premiered at The Fox Theater in Atlanta for an opening night crowd of thousands, and it sounded fantastic! It screened at over 100 festivals and had a theatrical release and every time I watched it in different theater settings, it always sounded great. Kenneth's work is such an integral part of our film, and I look forward to the opportunity of working with him again, as a sound designer and a musician. He leaves his ego at the door and always makes the sessions fun!
